“Botanist’s Daughter” solo show at Mt. Hood Winery during May & June 2019

I have been a busy bee this spring getting ready for a LOT of shows and projects this summer. My first big event is at Mt. Hood Winery on May 11th from 2-4pm. “Botanist’s Daughter: Anisa Asakawa” is my first solo show of 2019 feature new paintings and new painting techniques! The show will be up for the months of May and June and all work is available for sale.

Mt. Hood Winery has stunning view of the iconic mountain and is the perfect place to relax with friends and family during a day-trip to the Columbia Gorge.

Over the past few months, I have been experimenting with various 3D techniques influenced from my past creative processes. At this show, you’ll see a piece with felt leaves coming out of the canvas and others with cake decorating techniques. I’m excited to see where these new techniques take my work and how they will influence my future painting ideas.

I’m really interested in exploring more expressionism in my work. I love starting with sketchy outlines and an idea of the final feeling, but I want to let the creative energy just flow directly to the canvas without second guessing or controlling it too much. It can be difficult for me to work this way at first, but I’m finding that every time I approach the canvas this way, it flows easier and easier :)
